Country will not tolerate divisive leader: Nitish Kumar

Patna/New Delhi: Day after BJP anointed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said that People of the country could not tolerate a ‘divisive’ leader.

“We had sensed it three months ago that BJP will name him its PM candidate and ended our (JD-U) alliance with BJP,” Nitish Kumar said.

Nitish Kumar snapped ties with BJP in Bihar June 16 this year after Modi was made BJP’s campaign chief for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Without naming veteran BJP leader L K Advani, who has been cornered within the party to elevate Narendra Modi as PM nominee, Kumar said “there is no respect for elders in BJP.”

On jubilation in BJP, the Bihar CM, whose aversion for Modi is no secret, said “They are going ecstatic within their own house (BJP) but there is no similar jubilation among common people.”

The BJP is trying to create an environment in favour of their leader but they would never succeed, he said.
