Bhopal: In deference to the wish of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, novel efforts are being made in the state to establish bamboo industries. In a decision towards this, all species of bamboo barring indigenous bamboo have been exempted from transit pass.
Powers to issue transit pass for transportation of indigenous bamboo have been delegated to Panchayats in 35 districts. TP will have to be taken from Forest Department for transportation of indigenous bamboo (dandrocalamus strictus) in remaining 16 districts including Hoshangabad, Harda, Betul, Jabalpur, Katni, Seoni, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Shahdol, Sidhi, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur and Umaria.
Bamboo producers and entrepreneurs will not require transit pass of any specie of bamboo except indigenous bamboo for plantation and trade.
