Availability of power increases by 240 percent compared to year 2003

Bhopal. Availability of power in Madhya Pradesh has increased by 240 percent compared to year 2003. Under Atal Jyoti Abhiyan, quality power is being supplied to non-agriculture consumers 24X7 and 10 hours to agriculture consumers. Total 4530 MW power was available in the state in 2003, which has increased to 15 thousand 400 MW. Arrangements of power have been made as per demand till year 2022.

Energy Department has increased transmission capacity by 33 percent during last 4 years. This capacity was 34 thousand 232 MVA in year 2010-11, which has risen to 45 thousand 457 MVA in year 2014-15. During the period, 50 new ultra high tension power sub stations were set up. In 2003, transmission capacity in the state was 3890 MW, which has gone up to 12 thousand 600 MW in 2015. Transmission losses in the state have been reduced to 2.82 percent, which is lowest in the country. Along with feeder separation work, widespread infrastructure works are also being undertaken under power sector reforms in the state. During these 4 years, length of 11 KV lines have been increased by 55 percent. As on March 2015, total length of 11 KV lines was 3 lakh 13 thousand km whereas it was only 2 lakh 2 thousand km as on March 2011.

Number of electricity consumers has also increased in the state. It was 63 lakh 96 thousand in year 2003, which has increased upto about one crore 15 lakh. Power distribution companies have paid special attention to quality improvement in rural areas. During last 4 years, number of transformers has increased by 74 percent. There were 2 lakh 67 thousand transformers as on March 2011, which have increased to 4 lakh 65 thousand. Similarly, number of 35 KV sub-station has increased to 3,150.

Ease of Doing Business in companies

The 3 power distribution companies have started providing high tension power connections online. With this, applicants for high tension connections need not visit office of the company. Arrangements for payment against connection have also been made online. Number of prescribed documents for obtaining connection has also been reduced from 14 to 2. For upto 33 KV connections, facility of inspection by third party has been made instead of obtaining charging permission for electricity inspectors.
