Chief Minister got relief in dumper scam

BHOPAL: On Thursday Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan got a clean-chit from the Lokayukta in the three-year-old dumper scam, an anti-corruption ombudsman investigating the Rs 2 crore scam, reports said.

Source say that the allegation was Sadhna wife of Chief Minister named her husband as SR Singh at the time of purchase of dumpers and also gave a false residential address. The contents of the report have not been made public as yet but sources say the chief minister got relief as “nothing significant” was found against him during the investigation.

The corruption case was registered against Chauhan in 2007. His wife Sadhna Singh had allegedly bought four dumpers, or special trucks used in the construction sector, for Rs 2 crore, and later leased them to a cement factory. On Thursday the Lokayukta submitted the final reports.

Congress assembly members had raised the issue and the assembly was forced to adjourn sine die. The party had also demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the scam last year.
