The wives of 26/11 terror attacks martyrs – Hemant Karkare and Vijay Salaskar – have met UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and said that they want capital punishment for Ajmal Kasab.
Besides, Kavita Karkare also apprised Gandhi of non-payment of the compensation promised to the families after 26/11 as yet.
Recently, she raised serious questions about disappearance of her slain husband’s bulletproof jacket that he wore during his fight with the terrorists.
Also, she had filed an RTI in the regard but was told that it is missing. “When his body was found, the bulletproof jacket was missing. I filed an RTI application a few months ago asking where is the jacket but the reply I got was that it is missing,” Kavita said.
During the attacks, Karkare, a1982 batch IPS officer, was killed in an ambush near Cama Hospital, along with another IPS officer Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar during the November 26 terror attacks last year.
Despite wearing bullet-proof jackets, the officer received three fatal bullet-injuries in chest which raised question mark over the efficacy of these jackets in the wake of such terror attacks.
