2019 Honda Civic launched in India at Rs 17.69 lakh

NEW DELHI: Honda Cars India has launched the 10th generation Civic at a starting price of Rs 17.69 lakh for the base petrol variant. The prices go up to Rs 22.29 lakh for the top ZX diesel trim. The executive sedan is offered in five variants (three petrol, two diesel), two engines and two gearbox options.

Re-entering the Indian market after a gap of six years, the 2019 Civic gets 17-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, automatic LED (Light-Emitting Eiodes) headlights with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamp) , rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, an electric sunroof, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, ambient lighting and a first in segment lane-watch camera system.

In terms of safety, the 2019 Civic gets dual airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking system) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), vehicle stability assist, handling assist, an electronic parking brake with auto brake hold, hill-start assist and reverse camera with parking sensors as standard across variants.

Under the hood, the new Civic gets a 1.8-litre petrol engine that churns 141PS of power and 174Nm of peak torque. The engine is only available with a 7-speed CVT gearbox and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.5kmpl. Second engine on duty is a 1.6-litre turbocharged mill that produces 120PS of power and a peak torque of 300Nm. Honda claims an average of 26.8kmpl on this burner. While the petrol engine is only available with an automatic transmission, the diesel gets a 6-speed manual gearbox only.

The Honda Civic petrol is priced at Rs 17.69 lakh for the base V variant, Rs 19.20 lakh for the mid-spec, and Rs 21 lakh for the range-topping ZX variant.

Price for diesel starts at Rs 20.50 lakh for the VX trim and ends at Rs 22.30 lakh for the top ZX variant.
