Target to sow Kharif crops in 122 lakh hectare
Bhopal: A target has been set to sow Kharif crops in 122 lakh hectare in Madhya Pradesh in year 2013. It is 7 lakh hectare more than last year’s total Kharif area of 115 hectare. Soybean will be sown in about 62 lakh hectare. It is more than last year’s figure of 61 lakh 58 thousand hectare.
Paddy was sown last year in 17 lakh 59 thousand hectare. This year, paddy is estimated to be sown in 17 lakh 70 thousand hectare. Cotton will be sown in 7 lakh 35 thousand hectare, which is more than 7 lakh 27 thousand hectare sown last year. Among other major crops, jowar will be sown in 3 lakh hectare, bajra in 2 lakh, tuar in 5 lakh 40 thousand, moong in 90 thousand, urad in 6 lakh 35 thousand, linseed in 3 lakh, Ramtil in 1 lakh and kodu-kutki will be sown in 2 lakh 15 thousand hectare
