Maximum youths should be sent on journeys to country’s borders: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed that maximum number of youths should be sent on journeys to country’s borders under “Maa Tujhe Pranam” Yojana. Year-long journeys should be planned by chalking out a calendar excluding months of rainy season and exams. Shri Chouhan reviewed “Maa Tujhe Pranam” Yojana here today.

The Chief Minister said that objective of the scheme is to inculcate spirit of patriotism among youths. He referred to his discussions with youths returning after visiting border areas of the country. He informed that after returning from visits, youths are filled with new vigour and sentiments and sense of respect towards soldiers and love for nation. He stressed the need for giving opportunity of journey under the scheme to meritorious talents of various fields. He directed to ensure participation of maximum number of people, specially adolescent girls and boys in the scheme through transparent process. New venues should also be identified in tandem with Border Security Force, Indo-Tibet Police Force and infantry.

The meeting was informed that teams comprising 73 girls will be sent on journey in the last week of March during 2015. Under the scheme, teams visited Kargil, Leh, Drass and R.S. Pura in Jammu-Kashmir, Hussainiwala and Wagha border in Punjab, Longowal, Tanot Mata Ka Mandir in Rajasthan and Kochi in Kerala.

Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa, CM’s OSD Shri Rajiv Tandon, Secretary Sports & Youth Welfare Shri Amit Rathore and Director Sports Shri Upendra Jain were also present.
