Electioneering for Lok Sabha Elections 2009 Draw to a Close

Electioneering for final phase of polling ended today thus drawing election campaign of Lok Sabha Elections 2009 to a close. The polling for final phase will take place on May 13 in 86 parliamentary segments.

The political heavy weight trying their luck in this phase include P Chidambaram and Mohammad Azharuddin from the Congress, Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam’s (DMK) Dayanidhi Maran, T R Baalu and A Raja, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (MDMK) Vaiko, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party’s Jaya Prada.

On the last day of electioneering, Manmohan Singh campaigned in Ludhiana and Amritsar while L K Advani and Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrashekhar Rao in Amritsar.

BJP President Rajnath Singh toured Hoshiarpur and Shatrughan Sinha addressed a rally in Chandigarh.

While Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav conducted a rally in Bijnor. Mulayam’s son Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad campaigned in Rampur.

Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati addressed a rally at Hardwar in Uttarakhand.

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya addressed rally in Kolkata. Mamata Banerjee and Communist Party of India-Marxist General Secretary Prakash Karat will also campaigned in Kolkata.
