TSR MP Vijayasanthi Taken into Custody
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MP Vijayasanthi has been taken into custody for infringing election code of conduct ahead of the Telangana by-polls scheduled to begin on July 27, said media reports.
The actress-turned-politician had allegedly delivered an inflammatory speech at an election meeting of party workers at the TRS office in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Jun 30.
A case was registered against her on Friday under IPC sections 153-A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth and residence) and 505(2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, ill-will or hatred between classes).
In her alleged ‘hate speech’, Vijayashanti had allegedly said that the hands of those who oppose the formation of the separate state of Telangana should be chopped off.
