Combined Kitchen Revolutionary Step to Eliminate Malnutrition: Chouhan

Terming removal of malnutrition as a major challenge, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Sajha Chulha Yojana is a revolutionary step for eliminating of this curse and the scheme will help a lot in this cause.

Chouhan expressed above opinion while inaugurating Sajha Chulha Yojana on the premises of Middle School and Anganwadi at Parwalia Sadak village in Bhopal district.

He said that his endeavour is to ensure that all the children get education and no child is left out. Stressing that earlier conduction of schemes like Midday Meal separately caused problem in their monitoring and on one hand quality was affected and on the other profits were pocketed by contractors.

He said that the new system of combined kitchen will not only facilitate proper monitoring and improve quality but will also provide employment to women’s self-help groups.

The chief minister praised the Rural Development and Women and Child Development departments for speedy implementation of this scheme and hoped that both the departments will make this system successful with dedication and expertise.

Dignitaries present on the occasion include Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Gopal Bhargava, Minister of State (independent charge) of Women and Child Development Smt Ranjana Baghel, MLA Brahmanand Ratnakar, Zila Panchayat president Lakhan Singh Meena, Janpad Panchayat president Smt Lila Rajput and sarpanch Manohar Patidar.

Besides, Principal Secretary Rural Development Parshuram, Principal Secretary Women and Child Development Smt Teenu Joshi, Direcor Gulshan Bamra and district collector Sheo Shekhar Shukla also attended the function.

Earlier, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan formally inaugurated the kitchen of Sajha Chulha and worshiped Annapurna Devi. Chouhan, Gopal Bhargava and Sushri Ranjana Baghel also served food to the children of the school and the Anganwadi. After serving food to children, Chouhan and the two ministers also tasted Kheer and other dishes.

It may be mentioned that under Sajha Chulha Yojana, Anganwadi and school children will get freshly cooked food. The food will be cooked in the kitchen shade of Midday Meal Scheme by self-help groups.

Under the scheme, the breakfast menu for children includes nutritious Khichadi, salted Thuli and sweet Lipsi while children will get delicious Kheer-Puri, Daal-roti, Daal-Chawal etc. in meal.

Monitoring of the scheme will be undertaken with the coordination of Panchayats and community.

As many as 81 thousand 3 rural Anganwadi centres have been included in Sajha Chulha Yojana. For them, 67 thousand common kitchens (Sajha Chulha) and self-help groups have been formed.
