Thousands affected after Delhi Metro snag on Gurgaon route, jams reported

Yellow Line, one of the busiest routes of the Delhi Metro, connects Samaypur Badli in Delhi to Huda City Centre in Gurgaon

New Delhi: Thousands of commuters in Delhi and Gurgaon were stranded on Tuesday morning and traffic jams were reported from several parts after services were hit on Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line due to technical glitches.
The metro services on the Yellow Line were resumed in the afternoon hours after breakdown of overhead wire (OHE) at the Sultanpur station hit the services, according to news agency PTI.
“Normal services have now resumed. Inconvenience is regretted. Please allow for some extra time in your commute till the bunching of trains eases,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said on Twitter.
Earlier, the DMRC said passengers of two trains between Qutub Minar and Chhattarpur were evacuated after the services were affected in the morning. The Delhi Metro also ran feeder bus services between Sultanpur and Qutub Minar station to help the stranded passengers at the metro stations.
Yellow Line, one of the busiest routes of the Delhi Metro, connects Samaypur Badli in Delhi to Huda City Centre in Gurgaon. The 49 km-route has a total of 37 stations.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he has asked state transport minister Kailash Gahlot to seek a detailed report from Delhi Metro.
On Twitter, people shared videos and pictures of commuters walking on metro tracks after power failure at metro stations.
Some social media users also complained about traffic jams due to the disruption of metro services.
