Though Kishenji Elusive, Operation against Maoists Not Total Failure: Official

Thought Maoist leader Kishenji still continues to be elusive three days after the attempt to nab him, a senior police official has said that several important materials have been seized and that the operation is not a total failure, reported PTI.

“Escape (of Kishenji) does not mean the operation is a complete failure. We found many important materials to be of help to carry out the operation which is in right direction. We think he is still in the area and hope to catch him,” superintendent of police, West Midnapore district, Manoj Kumar Verma was quoted as saying while talking to reporters in Kolkata.

In response to a query regarding the details of the seized laptop belonging allegedly to Kishenji, Verma said that the laptop would soon be sent to forensic testing and only then any details could be shared, said report.

Answering question, Varma said that the laptop had a hard disk memory of 250GB, report said.

Among the seized material was the dress worn by Kishenji during the kidnap of officer-in-charge Atindranath Dutta by the Maoists in October 20 last year from Sankrail Police Station, said report.

Besides the laptop and the dress, the materials seized from the firing spot between Dumurkota and Hatiasole villages, include SIM cards, mobile phones, five guns, a pipegun, ten rounds of .315 bullets, two landmines and two flashguns and handwritten-printed literature, said report.
