A terror alert has been sounded in Kolkata, Mumbai and the national capital, in addition to Gujarat, after intelligence inputs that Taliban-trained terrorists have sneaked into these cities to target vital installations.
A top official in Union Home Ministry said that Taliban-trained ‘fidayeen’ (suicide squad) infiltrated into the country to execute attacks at ‘specific’ installations, including Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, defence establishments among others.
According to the official, other main targets for the ‘Pashtoon-looking’ terrorists include Bombay Stock Exchange and RSS headquarters.
The official said that government has issued instructions to deploy tight security net around these installations.
He said that the police forces have been put on high alert following the inputs and efforts are on to nab the terrorists at the earliest.
