Terror Alert Issued for Mumbai, Kolkata,Bangalore, IM Could Strike
Union Home Ministry has issued a terror alert for Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore, citing that terrorists could target these cities, reported PTI.
The information of threat emerged on the interrogation of suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist Salman Ahmed, said report.
The Ministry urged state governments of Maharashtra, West Bengal and Karnataka to take all possible steps to thwart any attempt by terrorists to attack these cities.
“We are not taking any chances on whatever information we have received. So, we have alerted the concerned state governments to take all necessary security measures immediately,” a Home Ministry official was quoted as saying.
During the interrogation, Salman confessed that the Indian Mujahideen established bases in Karachi, Kathmandu, Dubai and a few places in Middle East under its so-called ‘Karachi Project’.
It may be mentioned that Salman was suspected to be involved in serial blasts in Ahmedabad, Varanasi and Gorakhpur.
