Swami Nityanand Taken into Custody in Himachal Pradesh
Swami Nityanand, linked to a sex scandal involving Tamil actress Ranjitha, has been taken into custody in a Himachal Pradesh village, said media reports citing police.
“He was arrested from a house near Arki town,” Solan police chief Prem Thakur was quoted as saying.
The tainted swami, who has been charged under various sections of the IPCC and staying at a Solan hideout for more than a month, was arrested after a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against him by a court.
In March, a video footage aired on TV channels showed him in bed with Tamil actress Ranjitha, but he denied any wrongdoing, claiming that the images in the video have been morphed.
Later on March 30, Nityanand announced his decision to resign as head of his Dhyanapeetam ashram and from all trusts associated with it, living a life of ‘spiritual seclusion’ for an indefinite time.
