Symposium on “Global Warming and Climate Change: Towards Solution” on November 21-22

Bhopal. A 2-day symposium on ‘Global Warming and Climate Change: Towards Solution’ will be held at Vidhan Sabha conference hall here on November 21-22. Various sessions will be held during the symposium on both days.

Inaugural session on November 21 will be held from 10 to 11 am. Principal Secretary Urban Development and Environment will deliver the welcome address. After this, subject experts will throw light on outlines of the programme. Subject will be introduced by Rajya Sabha MP Shri Anil Madhav Dave. Shri Sharad Joshi of knowledge partner CECOEDECON will propose a vote of thanks.

A film on ‘Global Warming and Climate Change’ will be screened from 2.30 to 3 pm. From 3 to 5 pm, President of Organising Committee Shri Anil Madhav Dave will deliver welcome address, followed by address of Minister of State for Urban Development and Environment Shri Lal Singh Arya, presidential address of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and keynote address of Shri Shri Ravi Shankar while Principal Secretary Urban Development and Environment will propose a vote of thanks.

Special session of eminent environmentalist Dr. Vandana Shiva will be held from 5.30 to 6 pm followed by cultural eve from 6.30 to 8 pm where Sushri Suchitra Harmalkar and troupe will present ‘Amritasya Narmada’.

On November 22, subject introduction will be done and recommendations made at parallel seminars from 2.30 to 3 pm. Concluding function will be held from 3 to 5 pm. Minister of External Affairs Smt. Sushma Swaraj will be chief guest. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will preside over the session. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr. Sitasaran Sharma and Organising Committee President Shri Anil Madhav Dave will deliver speech while Minister of State for Urban Development and Environment Shri Lal Singh Arya will propose a vote of thanks.

Parallel sessions

Five parallel sessions will be held from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm. In them, lectures on ‘Necessary Factors of World Peace and Co-existence’ will be delivered by Prof. Kalanath Shastri, Prof. Ambika Dutt Sharma, Prof. Aruna, Dr. R.P. Sharma, Dr. Anubhav Varshney and Dr. Rani Dadheech, on ‘Balance in 5 Elements : From Modern Scientific Point of View’ by Dr. S.D. Atri, Shri Ajit Tyagi, Dr. Ravindra Pathak, Shri Sarath Guthikunda, Shri Soumya Dutta, scientist Shri Biman Bose and Shri Umendra Dutt, on ‘Concern about Environment in Folk Rituals: A Dialogue’ by Shri Om Thanvi, Shri Anupam Mishra, Shri Kapil Tiwari and Shri Shubhu Patwa, on ‘Creation of a Ecological Civilisation’ by Shri V.S. Vijayan, Shri Popat Rao Pawar, Shri Vijay Jardhari and Shri Aseem Shrivastava and lectures on ‘Possible Damage to Human Community and Earth by Climate Change’ will be delivered by Shri Samani Charitra Prajna, Shri Paramjeet Singh Chandhok, Shri S.P. Singh, Shri Yogesh Kumar Jadhav and Shri B.K. Golo Pilz.

On the second day, 5 parallel seminars will be held from 9 to 11 am. In them, lectures on ‘Indian Traditions and Rituals : In Context of Ecological and Sustained Development’ will be delivered by Prof. M. A. Laxmithachar, Prof. P.K. Dashora, Prof. Neeraj Sharma, Prof. Umarani Thakur and Shri Krishna Sharma, on ‘Problems and Solution of Climate Change’ by Shri Biman Basu, Shri Sagar Dhara, Shri Vijay Paranjpe and Shri Shambu Ratan Awasthi, on ‘Folk Practices and Environment’ by Shri Bhartendu Prakash, Shri Sangeet Verma and Shri Rajkumar Gupta, on Challenges for Women in Conext with Women’ by Sushri Neelam Ghore, Sushri Aditi Kapoor, Sushri Gurinder Kaur and Sushri Mira Shiva and lectures on ‘Closeness of Inter-relation of Nature and Religion’ will be delivered by Dr. Homi Dhalla, Fr. M.D. Thomas, Shri Arif Mohammad Khan, Swmi Jagdish Kapri, Shri Lokesh Muniji and Dr. Krishnalal Vajpayee.

The same day, 5 parallel sessions will be held from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm. In them, lectures on ‘Indian Concept of Time’ will be delivered by Shri M. A. Alwar, Prof. Sachitanand Mishra, Dr. Upendra Tripathi, Dr. Nandita Singhvi, Prof. Omprakash Pandey and Prof. Sampadanand Mishra, on ‘Motivators of Change’ by Shri Samar Baghchi, Sushri Kavita Kuruganthi and Shri Sunil Joshi, on ‘Soil, Seeds and Dialects’ by Shri Shubhu Patwa, Shri Raju Titus, Shri Babulal Dahiya, Shri Kapil Shah and Shri Pradeep Sharma, on ‘Role of Youths in Future-building’ by Dr. Anubhav Varshney, Dr. Kshipra Mathur, Shri Gaurav Joshi, Sushri Ria Kesari, Sushri Shambhavi and lectures on ‘Environmental Discriminations and Question of Justice’ will be delivered by Sister Jayanti, Dr. A.K. Merchant, Shri Geshe Dorji, Swami Samvit Somgiri, Fr. Stephen Fernandez and Swami Yogeshwaranand.
