Bhopal will submit report of BRTS to CS in 2 days: Brainstorming begins to remove 24Km corridor

The 24Km long BRTS corridor in Bhopal,  6 months, 30 accidents and 12 deaths. Also pictures of traffic jam during peak hours. For these reasons, questions are being raised about BRTS (Bus Red Transit System) which was laid 13 years ago in 2009-10 by spending Rs 360 crore. Ultimately a consensus has been reached to remove it. CM Dr. Mohan Yadav has sought a report from Chief Secretary Veera Rana in 3 days. District administration and municipal corporation officers have started preparing it. The report continued to be prepared throughout the day on Wednesday. This round continues on Thursday also.

Regarding the corridor, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Frank Noble A. Also held a meeting with engineers. They will submit the report to Chief Secretary Rana in 2 days. Corporation Commissioner Noble said that the corridor will be removed face wise. Therefore, the expenses incurred in this are also included in the report. How much part of the corridor will be removed, when and where has also been discussed.

According to experts, BRTS corridors have been removed from cities where BRTS is available and elevated is approved. Elevated is already approved in Bairagarh, while the plan is ready on Hoshangabad Road also. This reason is also being cited as the main reason for removing the corridor.

4 km dedicated lane has already been removed in the 24 km route. Now efforts will be made to remove the remaining portion also. There is a bus stop approximately every 50-100 meters in the corridor. These will also be removed along with the corridor. There is a corridor from Bairagarh, Lalghati, Kamla Park to Roshanpura and near Veer Savarkar Bridge on Hoshangabad Road to Misrod.

The corridor on Bairagarh (Sant Hirdaram Nagar) and Hoshangabad Road will be removed first. When the action will start and how much will be removed in a day, it will be in the report.

A plan is also being made to remove the corridor from Roshanpura, Kamla Park, Kohefiza area.

Consideration is being made to remove most of the corridor at night, as there is more traffic during the day. In such a situation, pedestrians may face problems.

The plan to immediately repair the lane after removing the corridor will also be in the report.

Ministers and MLAs raised demands, CM gave instructions

When the discussion on the corridor started in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday, two ministers Vishwas Sarang and Krishna Gaur, MLAs Rameshwar Sharma and Bhagwandas Sabnani, Mayor Malti Rai talked about removing it. After this the CM asked the Chief Secretary to submit the report. After the meeting, departmental officers including Collector, Corporation Commissioner started preparing the plan. Work continued on this on Wednesday. Corporation Commissioner Noble also held a meeting with the engineers.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav held a meeting with public representatives regarding the BRTS corridor. In this, it was agreed to remove the corridor.

Ministers and MLAs of Kamal Nath and Shivraj governments had raised questions regarding the removal of BRTS corridor. This matter was in the headlines in the year 2019 also. The then Urban Administration Minister Jaivardhan Singh had also seen the presentation of the BRTS corridor. Had also reviewed. Later the government left and there was no talk about the corridor. Last year, during the inauguration of Habibganj Underbridge, the then Minister in-charge Bhupendra Singh had termed this concept as wrong. At the same time, Minister Vishwas Sarang had talked about uprooting it. MLAs Rameshwar Sharma and Krishna Gaur had also raised objections regarding the corridor.

Due to these weaknesses the corridor will be removed.

Only city buses pass through the corridor. Other vehicles could not pass. Due to this, a situation of vehicle jam is being created on both sides. If mini buses or other vehicles were connected then the situation of jam would not have arisen.

Due to these reasons the corridor has also been removed from Delhi. By removing the corridor, one lane will be available on both sides. This will improve traffic movement, but after removing it, a system will have to be created for buses also, so that facilities will have to be provided to use public transport.

Attention will also have to be paid to road safety. Bus stops will also have to be made, so that along with stopping the buses, arrangements can be made for the disabled and senior citizens. After removing it, a better non-BRTS system will have to be provided.
