Urban Administration Department issues guidelines and directives for idol immersion in water bodies

Bhopal: Urban Administration and Development Department has issued directives and guidelines to all district collectors, Commissioners of municipal corporations and Chief Municipal Officers regarding prevention of pollution in Narmada river, its tributaries and other water bodies in the state.

According to the directives, separate ponds should be created near rivers for idol immersion. Similarly, scientific arrangements for disposing of waste should be made at riverbanks where religious rites are performed by assessing number of devotees. Proper arrangements for solid waste management and collection should be made prior to religious events on riverbanks. Officers of urban bodies have also been directed to undertake wide publicity in this regard.
