Shivraj Patil Takes Oath as Punjab Governor
Shivraj Patil has taken oath as the Governor of Punjab in place of SF Rodrigues whose term ened in November last year, reported PTI.
Patil was administered oath of office and secrecy by Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Mukul Moudgil at Punjab Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh, said report.
He will also be the administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
On the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, his Deputy Sukhbir Badal, Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia, Leader of Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda were present.
Patil has been the Speaker of 11th Lok Sabha and was Minister of Home Affairs in Manmohan Singh government before he stepped down following widespread criticism after the terrorist attack in Mumbai.
