There are preparations to build elevated corridors on two major roads of the capital Bhopal. For this, MLA Rameshwar Sharma has met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Minister Gadkari has asked the officers to make a proposal. If these corridors are built, lakhs of people will benefit. At the same time, they will not get stuck in traffic jams.

MLA Rameshwar Sharma said, Union Minister Gadkari has been requested for construction of an elevated corridor from Kolar Road to Bhopal station via Chunabhatti-Char Imli-Vallabh Bhawan-Jahangirabad-Bharat Talkies. Along with this, there has also been a demand to connect Ayodhya Bypass to Bhopal Bypass via Jamboori Maidan-Awadhpuri-Katara through elevated construction, elevated construction from Asharam intersection to the airport and making Gandhinagar main road at least 8 lanes.

2 proposals have been submitted to the Union Minister. In the first, there is a proposal to connect Kolar Road with the old city through an 8 Km long corridor. It is proposed to construct an elevated corridor from Forest Colony via Prakash Taran Puskar, Water Filter Plant Bhim Nagar, Old Jail Tiraha, Jahangirabad, Lily Talkies to Bharat Talkies till Alpana Tiraha (Platform No. 6). Its length will be 8 km and width will be 17 meters and it would cost Rs 800 crore.

This elevated corridor would connecting Chuna Bhatti of Kolar Road to Bhopal station would also connect to the Western Ring Road of Bhopal and would cost Rs 3,000 crore.

A demand has also been made to build a total 14.50 Km long and 17 meter wide elevated corridor from Gol Jod on Kolar Road to Kolar Tiraha and would cost Rs 1450 crore. It has been mentioned in the MLA’s proposal that there are residential colonies and big and small business establishments on Kolar Road. This route is a major route of Bhopal. This religious place also connects to major cities like Salkanpur, Narmadapuram, Betul, Khandwa, Nagpur, Seoni, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Pachmarhi. Many times traffic jams occur during peak hours. Therefore, it is necessary to construct an elevated corridor from Gol Jod Tiraha to Kolar Tiraha.

MLA Sharma said, there is a proposal to build a double decker elevated corridor on Kolar Road. In such a situation, the elevated can also be used for operating the metro.

MLA Sharma said, this is why a median of 3.5 meters has been left in the middle of Kolar six lanes. So that, elevated can be constructed here in future. Elevated piers can be easily constructed in this median only.
