Mumbai: Indrani Mukerjea on Wednesday narrated before a special CBI court how even the male officials of the Byculla women’s prison caned women inmates and threatened her against being a witness in the court. Sheena Bora murder case accused, who has been booked for rioting in the women’s prison in Mumbai along with other inmates, said she was hit on the hand and legs after which she could barely walk.
According to media reports, Indrani told the court that the jail superintendent threatened her for dire consequences. “She threatened me and told me ‘tu witness banne ja rahi hai…. tereko bhi dekh lenge,’” Indrani told the court according to the reports.
A 45-year-old woman prisoner Manju Govind Shette had died in the jail allegedly at the hands of jail officials after which the inmates protested against jail authorities.
