Separate Bodoland issue in Lok Sabha
NEW DELHI: In Lok Sabha a demand for the creation of a separate Bodoland state, carved out of Assam, was raised on Thursday.
Independent MP from Kokrajhar S K Bwiswmuthiary demanded that the government take immediate measures for the creation of a separate Bodoland to fulfill the much awaited demand of statehood. He pointed out that the UPA government has promised to create a separate Telangana state.
He urged all members to support the demand of the indigenous people for creation of Bodoland within the constitutional framework, raising the issue during Zero Hour.
He said, “The UPA-II has announced a policy decision for creation of separate states like Telangana. The demand for bringing about a lasting solution to the Bodoland problem has been long overdue and urgent steps should be taken to resolve this issue.”
