SC Stays Narco Test of Accused Cops in Shopian Rape & Murder Case
The Supreme Court has stayed narco test of police officials arrested for their alleged involvement in the rape and murder of two Shopian women.
Hearing a petition challenging Jammu and Kashmir High Court order in the case, a bench comprising chief justice KG Balakrishnan and justice P Sathasivam posted it for Friday. The petition was filed by the accused officials.
The bench also issued notice to the Jammu & Kashmir government.
The police officers had on July 17 moved the apex court seeking stay of the high court order directing their arrest and collection of blood samples for preparing DNA profiles.
The police officers, including superintendent of police Javed Iqbal Mattoo and deputy SP Rohit Baskotra, submitted that the high court order was passed without making them party to the public-interest petition filed by the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association.
