BDA to construct 1424 flats for weaker and low-income groups

Bhopal. Bhopal Development Authority will construct 1413 flats for weaker and low-income groups at village Salaiyya in Kolar municipal area. The State Government has earmarked 25 acre land for the project. This information was given at a meeting of the cabinet sub – committee chaired by Urban Administration and Development Minister  Shri Babulal Gaur here today. Water Resources and Housing & Environment (excluding Housing) Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya and senior officers of the concerning departments were also present on the occasion.

The meeting was informed that the BDA will construct 336 EWS and 1088 LIG flats at village Salaiyya. By including the cost of land, the cost of one EWS flats comes to Rs. 9 lakh and that of LIG flat Rs. 12.50 lakh. As per the State Government’s policy, the BDA has reduced these prices to Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh respectively. The cabinet sub-committee recommended to lower the EWS flat’s price to Rs. 4.50 lakh.

It may be mentioned that the State Government is extending a grant of Rs. 40 crore for this project. Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country where a provision has been made for providing free of cost land for weaker sections and low-income groups.

Principal Secretary Housing & Environment Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Urban Administration Shri S.P.S. Parihar, Principal Secretary Revenue Shri Manoj Shrivastava, Commissioner Treasury and Accounts Shri Pankaj Agrawal, Collector Shri Nikunj Shrivastava and BDA’s Chief Executive Officer Shri Kumar Purushottam were also present on the occasion.
