Tiger is old, have locked him up: Cong’s Arun Yadav mocks Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ remark

Congress leader Arun Yadav on Thursday made a controversial remark while taking a dig at former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Referring to Chouhan’s ‘Tiger zinda hain’ comment after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s defeat in the MP assembly elections last month, Yadav said that ‘tiger has been locked up because he is old now.”

Taking a swipe at Chouhan for his comment inspired by a Bollywood dialogue, Yadav reportedly said, “Tiger ko pinjre mein band kar diya hai humne, or budhe tiger ka sanrakshan karne ki zimmedaari Digvijay Singh Ji ne le li hai, kyunki tiger budha hogya hai toh usko pinjre main daal diya jaega. (We have locked the Tiger in a cage and Digvijaya Singh has taken the responsibility to protect the aged Tiger because the Tiger has become old now and hence has to be locked up in a cage).”

Days after the BJP lost the assembly elections, the three-time chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, addressed his electors in his constituency Budhni and assured that he was very much still in the game by quoting dialogue from Salman Khan-starrer ‘Tiger Zinda Hai”. Chouhan had said, “There is no need to worry about what will happen to you. I am still here. Tiger abhi Zinda hai (Tiger is still alive). Mere rehtey koi aakh uthakar bhi nahi dekh sekta (No one can think of harming you till I am here)”.

Chouhan had defeated his nearest rival Arun Subhashchandra of Congress by a massive margin of 58,999 votes. On the other hand, the BJP failed to retain the state for the fourth time as Congress emerged as the single largest party in the polls, just two seats short of majority. However, with BSP chief Mayawati’s support, the Congress was able to form the government in the state with Kamal Nath as the chief minister.
