Bhikangaon-Binjalwada Lift Irrigation Project worth Rs. 745 Crore Approved: CM

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave approval for the long awaited Bhikangaon-Binjawala Lift Irrigation Project. People of the area were demanding approval for the project since long time. CM Shri Chouhan was apprised about the matter by the local delegation under the leadership of the Member of the Parliament Shri Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan. The people of the area have expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan for the approval of the project.

It may be mentioned that Bhikangaon-Binjalwada project is proposed to provide micro irrigation facility to the deprived 50 thousand hectare area of 80 villages of Bhikangaon tahsil, 49 villages of Jhiranya tahsil, 13 villages of Sanavad tahsil, 12 villages of Khandwa tahsil and to 3 villages of Pandhana tahsil. The estimate cost of the project is Rs. 745 Crore. There will be no submerge area in the project

For this in three phases of 17.80 cumex water from the R.D. 57.850 k.m. will be lifted around 120.5 meter from the main canal of the Indira Sagar Project. 29.56 megawatt electricity will be taken from the electricity department to lift the water.

Moreover, 3 pumping stations will be constructed and 4 kilometer long 3300 millimeter diameter rising main pipe line, 2.3 kilometer long 2950 millimeter diameter rising main pipe line and 2.7 kilometer long 1300 millimeter diameter rising main pipe line will be laid down.

Irrigation facility will be provided through underground pipeline in the command area by lifting water from the Indira Sagar canal. Farmers will get pressurised water at 20 meter pressure head through this procedure. This will also benefit farmers to get more land irrigated through drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation system with minimum water. Moreover, the agriculture production will increase due to increase in water efficiency.

The farmers will get pressurised water at an average upto 2.50 hectare land and there will be no need for the farmers to level their farmlands beside various development works under the command area. Moreover, amount to acquire land for canals under the project will be saved.
