Rajasthan Guv Prabha Rau Dies after Slipping in Jodhpur House
After falling in the Jodhpur House guesthouse in the national capital, Rajasthan governor Prabha Rau has died at a hospital in New Delhi, said media reports.
Rau, 74, a former Maharashtra minister, is survived by two daughters.
Officials said that she slipped in the toilet and then rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) around 11 am and was pronounced dead at about 12.30 pm, reports said.
“When she didn’t open the door for a long time, her assistant knocked and found her on the floor. She was rushed to AIIMS at 11 am. At 12.30 pm, doctors declared her dead,” G N Bhat, joint director (information) of the Rajasthan government, was quoted as saying.
Rau took over as governor January 25, 2010, shortly after her predecessor S K Singh died while in office on December 1, 2009.
