MP: Islamnagar will be known as Jagdishpur

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Jagdishpur is getting back its lost identity after 308 years. Islamnagar will now be known as Jagdishpur.

Chouhan was addressing the Gaurav Diwas programme at Chaman Mahal in Jagdishpur. CM Chouhan inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of works worth Rs. 26 crore 71 lakh 86 thousand. He also unveiled the name plaque of Jagdishpur.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that historically Jagdishpur was the stronghold of Deora Rajputs. Dost Mohammad Khan took over Jagdishpur and named it Islamnagar. Gond Mahal, Rani Mahal and Chaman Mahal are the major tourist places in Jagdishpur. Member of Parliament Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, MLA Vishnu Khatri, Chairman MP State Electronics Development Corporation Shaitan Singh Pal and Kedar Singh Mandloi were present.

Chouhan said that today all of us are filled with joy and happiness. The Afghani had done injustice and brutality 308 years ago. He cheated. Jagdishpur was settled by Rajputs. The ruler here was Narasimha Deora. Jagdishpur Fort is known for its architecture. Raja Narsingh Deora was invited by Dost Mohammad Khan and was assassinated while he was having the meal. The queens had done Jal Jauhar. Today after 75 years of independence, we have again been able to restore Jagdishpur name.

Chouhan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the present government are doing the work of making the impossible possible. The old and glorious names should be restored. Keeping in mind the events of history, the sequence of changing the name is going on. Habibganj railway station has been renamed as Rani Kamalapati. Many such names will be changed. The glory of Jagdishpur will be re-established. He instructed the administration to prepare a master plan for the villages. Jagdishpur should become such a village that people may be charmed by watching it. He said that a memorial to the kings would be built here.

Chouhan said that a new Ganga of development is flowing through the Vikas Yatra. He said that Ladli Laxmi Yojana was formulated to make the daughter a boon. So far 44 lakh Ladli Laxmis have been born in the state. Similarly, the Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojana was launched. Now the Ladli Bahna scheme has been formulated to empower the sisters. Under this scheme, an amount of one thousand rupees will be given every month in the accounts of poor sisters. He said that farmers are being given Samman Nidhi on behalf of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.

Chouhan said that schemes are being launched one after the other. Attempts are being made to change the lives of the people. Old age pension amount will be hiked from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1000. Coming March 5 onwards, work will be done by setting-up camps in every village under the Mukhya Mantri Behna Yojana. Money will start coming from the month of June. This is a campaign to change the lives of the people. He said that we are trying to take care of everyone like a family. May everyone be blessed and happy. He sought public co-operation in development works.

Member of Parliament Pragya Singh Thakur said that the people of Jagdishpur wanted to rename Islamnagar to Jagdishpur. She said that when we were not independent its name was Islamnagar. Jagdishpur has a history of its own. Keeping this in mind, it has been renamed Jagdishpur. Jagdishpur has returned to its old glory. Continuous work is being done by the central and state government for development. Member of Parliament Sushri Thakur suggested the construction of a grand Jagdish Bhagwan temple in the village.

In his welcome address, Berasia MLA Shri Vishnu Khatri, said that today we have got the opportunity to celebrate Gaurav Divas in Jagdishpur. This is a historic moment. He said that this moment when Islamnagar has been renamed Jagdishpur has come after 308 years. This has become possible due to Chief Minister Shri Chouhan’s efforts. He said that development works will be undertaken to make Jagdishpur an ideal panchayat. Works of social concern and public participation will be undertaken. He demanded to build a memorial on the banks of the Banganga for those Maharajas who laid down their lives.

At the outset, Chouhan reached the dais and welcomed the sant-seers with shawl and shreefal and performed kanya pujan. He lit the lamp and started the programme with the rendition of Vande Mataram. The villagers welcomed the guests by adorning them with safas.

Chouhan took part in the restoration of Lambakheda to Jagdishpur road, Bhadbhada to Nipania Jat road, Lambakheda to Nipalia Bajkhan road, widening of Eintkhedi to Acharpura road, dedication and foundation laying of development works including 33:11 KV Power Substation Parewakheda, Eintkhedi MRF Center, Swachhata Parisar Gram Panchayat Acharpura, Golkhedi, Jagdishpur, Eintkhedi road. Public representatives and a large number of villagers were present in the programme.
