Punjab won over Mumbai

MUMBAI: Sensible batting of Marsh won the match for Kings XI Punjab. Chasing a target of 164 runs, Punjab started well.

Almost the entire top order batsman performed well in the chase. But, it was Marsh who held the innings from one end and guided Punjab to the win.

Ojha and Pollard bowled beautifully and took two wickets each.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians elected to bat after winning the toss. They were boosted by the return of Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

Tendulkar and Franklin started well. Sachin made run a ball 23 runs while Franklin batted superbly and made 79 runs in 51 balls. Karthik’s 35 help them to achieve a competitive total of 163 runs on the board. Kumar and Awana took two wickets each.

Harbhajan: “The fielding was the difference between the two teams, they stopped about 15-odd runs. Had we fielded the way they did, we could have won. It was a good cricketing wicket. We need to regroup and keep our plans simple.”
