Ensure concrete arrangements to prevent diseases in rain-affected areas

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to ensure concrete arrangements to prevent rain-generated diseases in rain-affected areas and hold health camps there. The Chief Minister was reviewing situation of excessive rains in the state here today. It was informed that surveys to assess losses due to excessive rains have been started.

The Chief Minister said that water samples of affected areas should be tested. It should be ensured that diseases are not caused due to polluted water anywhere. Adequate medicines should be made available in affected areas. Reports about losses due to excessive rains should be sent to the Centre at the earliest. The Chief Minister directed to immediate rescue 10 persons marooned at village Belgaon due to washing away of a bridge in Chhindwara district.

The meeting was informed that surveys have been started in excessive rain affected areas. Excessive rains have affected 21 districts of the state. So far, 22 persons have died due to excessive rains in the state. These include 5 in Bhopal, Vidisha 3, Damoh 5, Raisen, Rewa, Sagar, Mandla, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Seoni, Sehore and Agar-Malwa one each. In the state, 3 lakh 46 thousand population is affected by excessive rains. As many as 2500 houses have been destroyed completely and 18 thousand houses have been partially affected. It was informed that 1600 persons were rescued in Vidisha yesterday. With this, 7500 persons have been rescued in the state so far.

Mishra and officers of concerning departments attended the meeting.
