Protests in valley on Masarat release, youth killed in firing

Srinagar: A youth was killed and two others injured allegedly in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) firing on demonstrators in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday, police said.
Three persons were injured when CRPF allegedly fired upon the protesters, who were protesting against the killing of two youths in an army operation at Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district early this week, they said.
Under pressure from Central government, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed-led PDP-BJP dispensation on Friday night added charges of sedition and waging war against the country to Masarat Alam’s detention who has now been formally arrested.
The other two youth are being treated upon, the police said. Meanwhile, Geelani has called for a Valley wide shutdown on Saturday against the arrest of Masarat Alam.
Police late on Friday added section 121A (waging war against the country) and section 124 (sedition) to FIR lodged against hardliner, Masrat Alam.

Following the additional charges, Alam was produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Badgam who remanded him to police custody for a week.
