Contemplation on development of 35 lakh hectare degraded forests

Bhopal: A scheme has been chalked out to develop degraded forest areas in the state with public participation for expanding activities of eco-tourism development. Madhya Pradesh Eco-Tourism Board held a one-day investors’ meet to chalk out strategy in this regard at Bhopal today.

Private investors attending the meet visited areas under Laharpur in the morning. Investors of the opinion that tourists can be attracted by developing degraded forests. Additional Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Shri Jitendra Agrawal informed that tourism activities can be expanded in about 35 lakh hectare degraded forests by developing water sources and grass.

Principal Secretary Forests Shri A.P. Shrivastava, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Shri Narendra Kumar and Managing Director of State Tourism Development Corporation were present at the meet.
