Permission granted for rally on 25th Dec

KARACHI: Wednesday the Sindh government allowed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold its public rally in Karachi on December 25.

A PTI delegation, led by the party’s Sindh chapter Secretary General Arif Alvi, called on the Sindh home minister to resolve the issue.

Wassan declined their request, but later issued a statement grating permission to the PTI to hold a rally at the ground opposite to the Quaid’s mausoleum.

In the statement, the minister said the PTI had been allowed to conduct its public meeting at the spot (venue) it had requested.

He said the PTI was free to organise a public meeting anywhere, anytime, and at any place in Karachi. “They can carry out the rally in Nishter Park or Tibet Centre, or anywhere in Karachi.

But, the situation of the city is not very appropriate. The date is also not appropriate as the people in large numbers would be visiting the Quaid’s mausoleum. And it is Christmas (on that day).”

PTI leader Naeemul Haq confirmed that the government had given the permission for the meeting at the ground near the Quaid’s mausoleum that had been requested by his party.

“We briefed Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan that the venue decided by the PTI for its public gathering was not inside the mausoleum.”

Naeem said, “Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan and additional chief secretary Waseem Ahmed have called and confirmed that they are giving us permission to hold the rally at the ground that we had requested.”
