People to Give Congress a Long Break from Power: Advani

Continuing his attack on Congress in his familiar style, BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani on Wednesday held the oldest political party of the country responsible for poverty, increase in terrorist activities and other identical failures, claiming people wanted to send the Sonia Gandhi-led Congress on a long leave and vote NDA to power.

Addressing an election meeting in this northern Orissa town, the BJP strongman said that UPA government has failed on all fronts and did not succeed to contain terrorism and price rise.

Stressing people’s disillusionment at the miserable show of Congress-led UPA, Advani said voters are keen to get rid of Congress by giving it a long break.

“The country remained backward and poor due to decades of misrule by Congress since Independence,” he said referring to Congress’rule in past decades.

In a rally at Puri, the former Deputy Prime Minister also spoke on other issues and said the previous NDA government raised India’s status globally by conducting the Pokhran-II nuclear test in spite of firm opposition from powerful countries like the Unites States and China, and facing economic sanctions.

Reaffirming BJP’s promise to bring back huge amount of black money stashed in Swiss banks by Indians if BJP is voted to power, Advani said a large number of developmental projects and people’s welfare programme can be implemented if the unaccounted money is retrieved.
