Pawar Yet to Estimate Fuel Price Hike Impact on Food Prices
With BJP protesting and demanding a rollback, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has yet not estimated the influence of the fuel price hike on food prices in the country, reported IBNlive.
In Rajya Sabha, the minister had to face fire from Opposition on the issue as the members declined to let him have his say in the house, said report.
To make sure that Pawar speaks, even the Chairman had a tough time maintaining order, report said.
The opposition members got agitated particularly when Pawar attempted to connect high prices to higher MSP and alleged that the minister was trying to skip the issue, said report.
“When it comes to taking credit, Congress leadership is on the forefront but why are Sonia and Rahul silent on a burning issue like price rise,” BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu was quoted as asking.
However, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni has defended the govt’s stand on oil hike, saying that it’s important for the growth of the country, report said.
“Hike was necessary to maintain growth, give aam aadmi spending power and create stimulus for growth,” Ambika was quoted as saying.
