Pawar Asks Modi to Resign; Governing Council Meet Can Be Deferred

Agriculture Minister and former BCCI President Sharad Pawar has asked beleaguered IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi to send his resignation, saying that he will keep the letter with him, said media reports quoting unnamed sources.

The IPL Governing Council meeting which is scheduled to be held on April 26 is likely to be postponed by four-five days, said reports quoting sources.

According to reports, BCCI authorities are holding an unofficial meeting in Mumbai at the board’s office to discuss pros and cons of Pawar’s offer to give Modi an honourable exit.

Reports said that Pawar also facilitated a telephonic conversation between Modi and Shashank. This is the first time the two spoke to each-other on in 15 days.

Manohar reportedly told Modi that he had no option but to step down as IPL chairman, asking him to give indication that he was prepared to do so and if he didn’t do so, the BCCI would go ahead with governing council meeting on April 26.

Reports said that Modi consented to Pawar’s and Manohar’s compromise formula.
