Pakistan violates ceasefire in J&K

Jammu: Pakistani troops opened unprovoked firing at Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday, an officer said.
“Pakistan Army started unprovoked firing at our positions using small arms and automatics at Shahpur area of Poonch sector,” defence spokesman Col. Manish Mehta told an agency.
As people in Jammu and Kashmir voted for the Lok Sabha polls, Pakistan on Thursday had said any election in the state is not a substitute for plebiscite.
“Absolutely not,” said Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam when asked if the election in the state was an alternative to a plebiscite.
India has on several occasions has accused Pakistan of violating the bilateral ceasefire, which in the past had thwarted any kind of peace talks between the two neighbouring nation
