CAT Online Exams Extended by A Day

The first Common Admission Test (CAT) online exams, which was impacted by virus attack on server, has been extended by a day till December 8.

With the extension, the entrance test for admission to prestigious IIMs and other business schools will now spread over 11 days instead of earlier 10 as scheduled by Prometric, the American firm which is conducting the exams.

“Prometric and the IIMs have extended the CAT 2009 till 8 December,” the firm said in a statement issued today.

The date was extended after the exams were marred by technical glitches from day one because of which nearly 8,500 students couldn’t appear in the test for the first four days of the test. The tests for the affected students are being rescheduled.

About 2.41 lakh students are scheduled to appear in the test for admission into seven IIMs and a few other B-schools.

“The CAT 2009 has been extended to accommodate, within this year’s testing period, all the registered candidates to whom the test has yet to be delivered as scheduled,” the statement said.
