Rahul’s Election Rally outside Hospital Violates Code: BJP

A senior BJP leader has said that holding the rally of Congress leader Rahul Gandh outside a hospital at Panvel for Maharashtra assembly elections forms violation of the model code of conduct.

State BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said that before grant of permission for an election rally outside a hospital, local officials should have checked if it infringed the code and noise pollution norms and that patients were inconvenienced due to loudspeakers in the vicinity.

Subhash Sonawane, Raigad collector, said that a complaint was received from BJP alleging election code violation.

“We have asked officials at Panvel to check the case and submit a report,” he said.

Somaiya said that the Election Commission issued a poll code violation notice to NCP chief Sharad Pawar. The Commission should act in this case also.
