CPI slams government over fuel price hike

New Delhi: CPI (M) on Sunday slammed the government over fuel price hike, saying that the ruling coalition is taking decisions which would further increase burden on the common people.

“The price of diesel has been increased on the monthly basis of 50 paise per litre and a steeper increase is expected after the Parliament session. Unable to check the falling value of the rupee, the UPA government is resorting to successive increases in the fuel prices,” it said in a statement.

It demanded that the government should stop the “ruinous policy” of continuous hike in prices of petroleum products. Following the fresh hike, petrol price in Delhi has gone up by Rs 2.83 to Rs 74.10 per litre while it will cost Rs 81.57 per litre in Mumbai.
