Patna: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son and former health minister Tej Pratap Yadav has dismissed reports of a rift with his younger brother and leader of opposition Tejaswi Yadav over struggle for power in the party.
Speak Exclusively to a renonwed English news channel after a video went viral on Saturday where he was seen lashing out at the senior leadership of the party for sidelining and ignoring him, Tej Pratap said that he was angry particularly with State RJD President Ram Chandra Purve over the autocratic manner in which he was running the party. Tej Pratap, who is incharge of the students wing of the party said that Purve misbehaved and was abusive with the members of the students wing of the party.
“The State RJD President doesn’t listen to the members of the students wing of the party. Whenever they go to him, he misbehaves with them and abuses them which is not right”, complained Tej Pratap Yadav, RJD leader.
Tej regretted the fact that his father had nominated Ram Chanda Purve as the State President for the second time, last year.
“Had a youth become the state RJD president the functioning of the party would have been more smooth”, said Tej Pratap Yadav.
He dismissed reports of any kind of power struggle going on with Tejaswi over controlling the party. Referring to the Mahabharata, he said he wished to make his brother sit on the throne like Arjun and he himself goes to Dwarka like Krishna.
“I want that Tejaswi becomes the PM one day. There is absolutely no rift with him. He is very close to my heart. Reports of rift with Tejaswi is simply media creation”, said Tej Pratap.
Tejaswi Yadav also broke his silence on the purported reports of rift with his brother and said if Tej Pratap had any grievances that would be resolved at the appropriate forum within the party. He also refuted allegations levelled by Tej Pratap that he was being ignored in the party.
“The points raised by Tej Pratap are to strengthen the party. Whatever the media is showing about rift between me and Tej Pratap are distorted facts” said Tejaswi Yadav, RJD leader.
