Nithari Case: Arguments on Quantum of Punishment Deferred
Due a lawyers strike, arguments in Nithari case on quantum of punishment to domestic help Surender Koli has been deferred, said media reports quoting officials.
Koli has been convicted for the rape and murder of seven-year-old Arti from Noida’s Nithari village.
The arguments in the case were deferred as Ghaziabad bar association went on strike in protest against baton-charging of lawyers in Kanpur, reports said.
A special court had Tuesday convicted Koli of the rape and murder of Arti who had disappeared from her home in September 2006.
She was amongst the 19 women and children from Noida’s Nithari village whose body parts were found in a drain.
