NIA claims to find a probe in Delhi blast

NEW DELHI: In the Delhi High Court blast case the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has found the first definite lead and the agency in now looking for a core group of seven persons, who were behind the planning and execution of the blast that killed 13 people.

After questioning two minors detained by the police for sending the terror e-mail, from a cyber cafe in Kishtwar town of Jammu and Kashmir, the NIA has got the breakthrough. That mail claiming responsibility for the blast on behalf of the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI).

Allegedly the two Class XI students, who sent the e-mail claiming responsibly for the blast, are actually a part of the core group of seven persons.

The investigation agency also said that the two students has revealed that five others in the age group of 25-35 years were involved in the actual planning and execution of the attack.

Sources said that the minors were a part of the final meeting before the blast. The five traveled to Delhi on September 5 to execute the last bit of the plot.

According to the sources the materials used in the blast was highly sophisticated and complex, which is almost impossible for a local gang to assemble and operate. However, they added that the nature of the material used was such that the explosive could not have been made in Kishtwar and then sent to Delhi.

Sources say that the bomb may have been sourced and assembled in the capital itself. Though there is no direct link between the blasts in Mumbai and New Delhi, sources claim that the material used for the High Court blast was similar to the explosives used in the Zaveri Bazar blast in Maharashtra’s capital.

The two minors have been arrested were sent to 10-day police remand and the NIA is likely to question them over the next few days. Sources said their interrogation is extremely crucial for cracking the case.

Families of the students claim that their children are innocent.

A relative Nadira said, “My cousin is in school. Police should explain how he can send out a mail at 1.14 pm when he was at home till 1.40 pm.”
