National Confrence will have no relation with BJP: Omar

Jammu: Pledging allegiance to his ally UPA, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the National Conference (NC) will not have “any relationship” with the BJP, its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi or NDA. Jammu and Kashmir (National) Conference will neither have any relationship with Narendra Modi, BJP nor NDA – take it written from me,” Omar told a gathering of NC workers at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan.

“We will sit out of power for years, but will not deceive (UPA). We are not the people who deceive (allies),” he said.

In response to media reports about reactions from BJP that he was coming closer to the NDA, Omar said, “We have with honesty held the hand of UPA.”

“(Former Chief Minister and his grandfather) Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah always said do not deceive anybody even if you are deceived. We will accept deceit, but will never deceive anybody,” he said.

Omar further claimed that the Opposition was waiting for NC to leave UPA. “Let them sit and wait,” he said.

“That day will never come. We will never deceive people of J-K and our political ideology,” he said.

Explaining his party’s earlier alliance with NDA, the Chief Minister said, “We had extended our hand to Atal Bihari Vajpayee. If Atal would have been NDA president even today, it (alliance) may have been possible.”

“Atal-like people are not born every day. We had extended our hand of alliance to him. Don’t remain in the misconception that we are keeping our doors open for others. We were part of NDA when we fought elections here, in Jammu, against them, and won,” he said.
