My resignation won’t help to stop stop rape : Neeraj kumar

New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar on Monday virtually ruled out his resignation in the wake of 5 year old girl rape case, saying that problem lies in the sick mind of the some people of the country and his resignation won’t curb it.

To a question on his resignation the commissioner said, “If a reporter commits a mistake, does the editor resigns for that. I am prepared to resign thousand times if that will solve the problem of depravity in people who commit rape.

Addressing the press conference, the Police Chief said exemplary action will be taken against policeman found lax in dealing with the child rape case, Kumar said.

Breaking his silence after four days of horrific gang rape, the police commissioner said that there was no inordinate delay in filing FIR in the minor rape case.

Defending the department, Kumar said that a lot has been changed since December 16 incident. He gave some statistics to show that 97 percent of rapes are committed in homes and only 3 percent outside. “It is no humanly possible for a policeman to prevent an incident like marital rape,” he added.
