Muslim Clerics Meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh Over Kashmir Unrest

New Delhi: A delegation of Muslim clerics met Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday to discuss the prevailing situation of Kashmir. Muslim clerics expressed their confidence in the central government and said that the Home Ministry will resolve the ongoing conflict in the Valley.
Condemning opposition parties’ decision to meet the separatists in Kashmir, one of the Muslim clerics questioned, “Why talk to Hurriyat people, people who raise “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans?”

Earlier, leaders including Sharad Yadav (JD-U), Sitaram Yechury (CPI-M), D Raja (CPI), Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM), JP Yadav (RJD) made an attempt to coax the Hurriyat leaders to join the peace talk, but were turned away.
Sharad Yadav, Sitaram Yechury and D Raja went to meet Syed Ali Shah Geelani but the hardline Hurriyat leader refused to even let them in.

Yadav, Yechury and Raja also went to meet Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik at a police hub turned into a prison at Humhama.
