Maoists Blow up Police Station, Block Office Building in Bihar

Maoists blew up a newly-constructed police station and a block office building and also set ablaze more than a dozen trucks in Sasaram in Bihar on Friday nights, said media reports.

After Bhubhaneshwar Rajdhani and toll plaza in Gaya, this is third Maoist attack in week in the state.

“The incident took place at around 11 p.m. on Friday at Tilauthu under the same block. As the area is Naxal-infested, we had belated confirmation of the attack,” Additional director general of police (headquarters) P K Thakur was quoted as saying.

More than 100 armed rebels launched attack on the newly-built police station and a block office and also set on fire many trucks of a private construction company, reports said.

However, no casualty was reported as yet.

Meanwhile, a Maoist arrested after a raid in Jamui yesterday, from whose possession a looted SLR was recovered, succumbed to his injuries last night on way to treatment in Patna, added DGP Neelmani.
