Maoists Blast Railway Tracks, Set Ablaze Trucks in Jharkhand

As two-day shutdown protesting what they term central government’s effort to forcibly crackdown the CPI (Maoists) movement, the rebels have blown up a stretch of railway tracks and set on fire three trucks in Jharkhand.

“They (Maoists) blew up a stretch of railway track around 2.30 am at Jharandih in the Coal belt Industrial Chord section in Dhanbad,” Senior Public Relations Officer of the Dhanbad Rail Division Amrendra Das was quoted as saying by PTI.

He added that Shaktipunj Express was held up due to blast.

In the meanwhile, nearly 12 armed Maoists set ablaze three trucks at round 1 am in Girdhih’s Isri area and slashed down trees to block road traffic on the Dumri-Girdih road, Giridih Superintendent of police Ravi Kant Dhan said in Giridih.
