Mamata Banerjee invites Nitish, Naveen to make federal front

Kolkata/New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee spoke to her Bihar and Odisha counterparts to make her idea ‘federal front’ a reality.On his part, Tyagi said, “You have heard that she has talked with Naveen Patnaik and Babulal Marandi. We are going to have our party meeting within two or three days. We will respond after that. But we are still a part of NDA.”

Sources said during the telephone calls with the two leaders Advani impressed on the need for the NDA to stay united to face the Lok Sabha elections unitedly.

JD(U), one of the oldest alliance partners of the saffron party, is reportedly reconsidering its ties with the BJP. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has begun consultations with senior JD-U leaders over continuance of his party’s ties with the BJP after the anointment of Narendra Modi as its poll panel chief. A senior Bihar minister has claimed that the ‘days of ties’ between the two NDA partners seem to be numbered.
